Chinese construction giant Evergrande has officially defaulted, this could be the beginning of the end.

Evergrande is one of China's largest companies, yet it is $305 billion in debt. Evergrande's default defines not only the "beginning of the end" of the Chinese construction empire, but also the possible downfall of a large part of the entire Chinese market.

The company owes money to 171 Chinese banks.
